Ludacris vs. Mike Judge: The Final Results!
September 6th 2009 18:16
In the slow week at the box office known as Labor Day weekend, The Final Destination was able to the new releases to stay on top for a second week in a row.
Top 10 (thanks to the good folks over at Box Office Mojo)
2.) All About Steve $11,200,000
3.) Inglourious Basterds $10,847,000
4.) Gamer $9,000,000
5.) District 9 $7,000,000
6.) Halloween II $5,608,000
7.) Julie & Julia $5,200,000
8.) G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra $5,100,000
9.) The Time Traveller's Wife $4,215,000
10.) Extract $4,187,000
The fouth film in the franchise, The Final Destination kept its spot with 12 million, with a total of 47 million. At this rate, it'll become the highest grossing film in the series.
At second place, Sandra Bullock proved that she has enough fanfare to make an abysmal romantic comedy like All About Steve grap 11 million its opening weekend. Also opening this weekend at fourth place is Gamer, with Gerard Butler and Chris "Ludacris" Bridges. Obviously wanting to become the last big action flick of the summer, it grossed a slim 9 million.
The big stinker this week, however, was Mike Judge's Extract, all the way down at tenth place with 4 million. Despite getting the strongest critical reviews of this week's new releases, audiences simple ignored it, much like Judge's Office Space, which only made 10 at the box office ten years ago.
